Hurricane Mills, TN (August 1, 2014) – Austin Forkner came away with second place in the Super Mini 1 division at this week’s 2014 Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Motocross Championships, but still has a good shot at a title in the Super Mini 2 division, which finishes up tomorrow during the final day of racing.
The Team Green Kawasaki has won both of the motos in the Super Mini 2 class already and carries a good head of steam heading into tomorrow’s final moto.

Two riders hoping to spoil Forkner’s shot at the title are fellow Team Green rider Sean Cantrell, who has a pair of second place finishes behind Forkner, and KTM’s Jordan Bailey, who has a third and a fourth.
“I just need to ride consistent and not make any mistakes tomorrow and I got it,” says Forkner.
Forkner got off to a great start to the week in practice on Monday, when he turned the second-fastest time in qualifying.
“I usually don’t ride as good in practice as I do in the races, so that was good for me,” says Forkner.
In the Super Mini 1 class, which wrapped up today, Forkner had a bad start in the second moto on Thursday and though he worked his way up to the front, he fell when the two-lap board came out, which left him sitting fourth at the end of the race. And though he won today’s final moto, that fourth on Thursday was too much to overcome, and the Missouri rider was forced to settle for second overall behind Cantrell, who went 1-3-2 in the three motos.
“I’ve been riding almost every day during the last two months and I felt like I was ready coming into this race, but I just got bad starts in my first two motos in that class,” said Forkner. “Hopefully all that hard work will pay off tomorrow in the Super Mini 2 class final.”
