Henny Ray Abrams | June 19, 2011

BIRMINGHAM, AL, JUNE 19 –

Parts Unlimited/Vance & Hines’ Steve Rapp won his second Vance & Hines XR1200 Series race of the year by narrowly holding off Bruce Rossmeyers Daytona Racing’s Chris Fillmore on the first race of a very hot day at Barber Motorsports Park.Rapp got the jump with Fillmore going with him on a first lap filled with drama. Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson/J&P Cycles’ Michael Beck had a frightening end-over-end spill that Wyman thought might bring out the red flag. It didn’t and racing continued, with the two title contenders at the front and Tylerohara.net/GP Bike Parts Racing’s Tyler OHara third.

Wyman spent the entire 11-lap race looking for an opening that never came, with Rapp racing to victory by .157 secs. His previous win came at Miller Motorsports Park. OHara came third about 12 secs. behind the winner and a second up on Michael Barnes on the RMR/Bruce Rossmeyers Daytona Racing XR1200.Two-time winner Fillmore continues to lead the championship with 135 points to 119 for Rapp. Kyle Wyman, sixth today, is third with 78 points after five of ten races.XR1200 Results:1.
