Mammoth MX: Open Class

| June 22, 2001

There was no stopping vet hero Doug Dubach today at the Mammoth Mountain Motocross, where the White Brothers Yamaha rider took his YZ426F to a perfect 1-1 moto score for first overall. Dubach was followed by teammate Spud Walters, who posted a 2-2, tally, and Nathan Woods rounded out the podium with a 3-3. Off-road star Ty Davis was the fourth-overall rider on another Yamaha YZ, with a 5-4 score.

Team Mazda Yamaha’s Jeremy McGrath also raced today aboard a Yamaha YZ426F, but he was stricken by bad luck. McGrath crashed on the first lap of moto one, and could only climb as high as fourth place by moto’s end. In moto two, he suffered a flat tire on the first lap, and was credited with last place after he dropped out of the race. McGrath will hope for better fortune tomorrow, when he will race a YZ250F four-stroke.
