Mechanicsville, Maryland (July 12, 2014) – Despite having to come from behind in both motos due to poor starts, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett grabbed his third overall win of the season in the 250 class at this weekend’s Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Budds Creek, keeping his title hopes alive in a very interesting championship chase.

In moto one, Baggett worked his way from seventh at the end of the opening lap, to third at the end of the moto, closing to within less than a second behind runner-up finisher Jeremy Martin at the end of the race. In the meantime, Rockstar Racing KTM’s Jason Anderson claimed his first-ever moto win in outdoor competition after passing early leader Justin Bogle on lap three.

In the second moto, Martin led the first 11 laps of the race, before Baggett took over on lap 12, having come from a mid-pack start at the beginning of the race.

Anderson was third on the first lap, but soon started feeling the effects of the extreme heat and high humidity and dropped to seventh by the end of the race.

At the finish, Martin held on to finish second behind Baggett, while Valli Yamaha’s Christophe Pourcel took third ahead of Martin’s Yamalube/Star Racing teammate Cooper Webb, and GEICO Honda’s Bogle.

In the overall, Baggett took the “W” with a 3-1, while Martin (2-2) and Anderson (1-7) rounded out the podium.

In the series standings, Martin maintains a 27-point lead over Baggett in the series standings as the series moves next week to Martin’s home track in Millville, Minnesota. Meanwhile, Webb sits third in the standings another six points behind Baggett.
