ISDE Poland Team USA Update VII

| September 16, 2004

The U.S. Trophy Team moved up one position overall today – the third day of competition. According to our reporter Steve Berkner The US Trophy team took a, “Step in the right direction” and significantly improved their test times to move up one position from 13th to 12th place. Kurt Caselli turned in another solid day finishing to finish 6th in the Enduro 2 class. (Pictured: US Trophy Team rider Jimmy Jarrett.)

Berkner again talked to Team Manager Drew Smith about the Americans and he had this to say. “Kurt’s [Caselli] been a real leader and continues to be our man,” Smith said. “We got a little bit of momentum going today and were moving in the right direction. Our guys are turning in better test times on the second loop, sometimes taking 25 to 30 seconds off their scores. That’s about the same amount of time were giving up to the Europeans on the first set of test. What were learning is our intensity has to be there right away.”

The U.S. Junior Trophy Team also moved up a notch from 13th to 12th place. As reported earlier a German rider was killed when he hit a tree. The man was on the same minute as American Junior Trophy Team rider Cody Mastin.

“Junior Team member Cody Mastin had stopped and gave aid to German Trophy Team rider who had crashed into a tree,” Berkner said. “Mastin and another rider were giving aid to the man when he died.”

As far as the Club Teams are concerned, “The SKUNKWRx.net team was once again the top finishing American three-rider Club Trophy Team,” Berkner said. “However, they didn’t have the same luck as the Trophy Teams and slipped from 18th overall to 20th when team rider Dylan Debel went in seven minutes late at impound when he failed to finish the needed repairs to his clutch. Debel pushed his bike over 1000 meters to the parc ferme.”
