The Chang International Circuit in Thailand is now being used as a refugee camp and could affect the opening round of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship, scheduled for March 1 at the venue.

According to local authorities, around 15,000 people from border-adjacent villages have been relocated to the circuit since Sunday, November 7, after heavy fighting erupted between Thai and Cambodian forces, prompting mass evacuations.

The displaced are now sheltering inside grandstands and paddock areas, many awaiting further instructions or safe passage home.

The circuit’s selection as a refuge reflects its size and ability to accommodate large numbers, qualities designed for spectators and teams but now repurposed for humanitarian shelter. CN
