The inaugural Hollow Point Hard Enduro brought a new level of intensity to the AMA East Hard Enduro Series, presented by IRC Tire, as round six unfolded in Wellsville, Ohio, September 13-14. Known for its steep hills and unforgiving rock gardens, the area has long been a training ground for extreme riders.

In dry and dusty conditions, 84 amateur riders tackled the Saturday course, while 60 Pro and A-class riders lined up on Sunday’s 13.5-mile racecourse filled with hills, creeks and boulder-strewn climbs.
Saturday’s amateur saw race leader Davin Shike complete a lap in just 59 minutes—far faster than expected. The decision was made to extend the race from two laps to three, and Shike rose to the occasion, completing the distance in three hours and 11 minutes. He crossed the line a commanding 18 minutes ahead of runner-up Gage Hill, with Jose Julian Hernandez Rios securing third.
Georgia Eversole took the Pro Women’s win, completing a full lap of the gnarly course. “I absolutely loved the race today,” Eversole said. “It was a good mix of difficulty. It was technical, but I didn’t struggle the whole day.”
Saturday evening hosted a Prologue race to determine start positions for Sunday’s Pro racing. Cody Webb took the holeshot, but former GNCC champ Jordan Ashburn took the win.

The Pro race format challenged riders with two laps and a four-hour time limit. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Ryder LeBlond emerged victorious, outlasting his closest rivals in a race defined by constant position swaps.
“No one could really get away,” said LeBlond. “I cleaned the last couple of hills and just sent it because I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a two- or three-lap race. James and Jordan were right there the whole time—we just kept switching positions. It was pretty nuts.”
Ashburn, aboard his Flatrock GasGas, finished a somewhat surprising second, considering his few hard enduro appearances. “It was complete chaos,” he said. “I was all over the ground everywhere, flopping around in the silt, battling with Ryder [LeBlond] and James [Flynn] the whole day. That last lap, every time we’d get to a hard section, Ryder and I were wheel to wheel, passing each other back and forth. Ryder slipped away at the end, but it was a heck of a battle.”
Rounding out the podium was IRC Beta’s James Flynn. “It was awesome just trying to keep up with Ryder and Jordan and learn from them,” Flynn said. “Going into the second lap, I lost my rear brake and kept blowing corners in the single track. I had to slow up a little bit and try to stay smooth.”

Webb, riding a self-prepared 1995 Yamaha WR250, added to the storyline by storming from dead last to a fourth-place finish after kickstart issues left him stranded at the start. “The holeshot I got yesterday was all I had, apparently,” Webb said. “The bike didn’t kick the first couple times, so I had a bad start. I was actually trying to get past Ryder Guest when I bent my chain guide and knocked my chain off, so I was struggling in the creek, and that’s when I lost all those positions. I didn’t even know I was that far back. I just kept charging hard. I had some terrible mistakes on the first lap. In the second lap, I made everything with almost no effort. I made up a lot of ground, just not enough. That first lap killed me.”
Ryder Guest, racing for Kaua‘i Racing Development, capped off the top five, praising the event’s difficulty.
Next up is the Fallen Timbers Hard Enduro at Wildwood Lake Raceway in Little Hocking, Ohio, on September 28.
