Honda HRC Rally Team rider Schareina won the weather-shortened, six-day 2025 Sertoes Rally in Brazil.

The rally kicked off in Goiania, Brazil, on July 26, and was set to conclude on August 3 in Marechal Deodoro. However, heavy rains in the final region forced the cancellation of the last two stages. Six grueling stages were completed in which the Honda HRC Team rider, Schareina, claimed five stage wins and maintained a consistent lead throughout the rally.

Making his debut at the Sertoes, Schareina started the rally from 38th position after a navigational error in the Prologue. But on the first official stage, he pushed through extreme dust and overtook dozens of riders to finish second. From there, he never looked back.

On stage two, he took the overall lead after dominating the longest special of the rally (190 miles), a mix of fast farm roads and technical sandy trails. He continued to extend his advantage in stages three and four, the latter being a Marathon stage where riders received no external mechanical support.

On stage five, he conquered a combination of deep sand and rocky mountain sections to take his fourth win. By stage six, his lead had grown to an unshakable 48 minutes.

Schareina’s win not only marks a personal milestone—his first title at Sertoes—but also secures Honda’s 11th overall victory in the rally’s history.

“I had very high expectations for this rally, and it has been much tougher than I thought,” he said on what turned out to be the final day of racing. “It has been a long distance, like a mini-Dakar. Today we arrived with a big lead, but the stage had to be suspended for safety reasons because it has been raining heavily.”

There were multiple motorcycle entries in this year’s Sertoes Rally, though Schareina was the only factory-backed entrant. Finishing second overall was Yamaha pilot Gabriel Bruning of Brazil, and third overall was another Yamaha rider, Guilherme Bissotto, also of Brazil.

Schareina is currently ranked third in the World Rally-Raid Championship.CN

After 333 miles of dry and dusty conditions, 175 miles of which were special stages, Honda rider Martin Duplessis took the win on day one, followed by Honda’s lone HRC’ rider Tosha Schareina, who had to work his way up through the field after getting lost during Saturday’s Prologue, giving him a late starting position in 38th. Honda-mounted Bruno Crivilin took third. Yamaha rider Gabriel Soares and Honda-mounted Romain DuMontier rounded out the top five.

Schareina was impressive in his ride to the front of the leading pack. “It was the dustiest day of my life!” he said. “I started in 38th position and managed to pass around 30 walkers. It reminded me of MX style during that 300K special stage. It was very difficult, very complicated navigation, very slow in some parts, more like Enduro style.”

Schareina carried his momentum into day two, winning stage two over Duplessis and DuMontier. Gabriel Bruning finished fourth, followed by another Yamaha of Soares. CN
