McDonal had his work cut out for him early on, though. The Beta rider trailed leader Wally Palmer and Ryan Quinn after the first five-mile lap. By lap two, McDonal had moved into second place and was just a few seconds behind the Kawasaki rider, Palmer. McDonal stayed close to Palmer for the next couple of go-arounds before getting around Palmer about the halfway point of the race. From there, McDonal slowly eased away from Palmer for the win.

Palmer, meanwhile, had his hands full when another Beta rider, Max Fernandez, came calling on his 125cc two-stroke after battling his way around Quinn. As they began the white-flag lap, Palmer could feel Fernandez’s presence, because he was just two seconds behind Palmer as they went through the scoring chute. It was a final-lap sprint race to the checkered flag with Palmer barely holding on, as he took the checkered flag just three seconds ahead of Fernandez and a minute behind the winner, McDonal.

KTM rider Josh Klouchek finished a few minutes back in fourth, while Quinn ended up another minute-plus behind in fifth.

Klouchek was the top A-class (250) rider, while Travis Chavous (KTM) was the top Open A rider in sixth overall.

Seventh overall went to the top A Vet rider, Darren Huff (Yamaha).

Joseph Ford (Yamaha, A Vet), Michael Nirdlinger Jr. (Husqvarna, A 250) and Aaron Heess (KTM, A 250) completed the top 10 overall.

Yamaha-mounted Cate Nash was the top Women’s class finisher.
