BRASELTON, GA. (April 19, 2015) – Cameron Beaubier made it a clean sweep of the pair of AMA Superbike races at Road Atlanta. The Monster Energy/Graves Motorsports Yamaha rider powered away to a commanding victory over Yoshimura Suzuki’s Jake Lewis. Lewis in turn held off RoadRace Factory Yamaha’s Jake Gagne in the battle for second. Gagne was on a Superstock 1000 bike and won that race.
It was the Yoshimura Suzuki’s of Hayden and Lewis leading the way on the first lap. Josh Hayes crashed out on lap one, putting the defending champ out. Yamalube/Westby Yamaha’s Josh Day was out early as well.
Hayden began to open his lead with Lewis and Beaubier battling for second. Huntley Nash ran a surprising fourth.
On lap four suddenly Hayden crashed out of the lead for the second time on the day, this time in the esses. At the same point Beaubier was pressuring Lewis and he went to the front. After Hayden’s crash Jake Gagne found himself in third.
On lap five Tyler O’Hara moved past Taylor Knapp in a good battle for fourth.
In the closing laps Beaubier held a safe lead. Lewis, Gagne, O’Hara and Knapp were slightly distanced from one another and then a big gap back to Mark Heckles. Bernat Martinez ran seventh over Chris Ulrich. Dustin Dominguez and Shane Narbonne had a decent battle just inside the top 10.
