Dustin Dominguez had to navigate a gaggle of lapped traffic on the final lap in race one at Mid-Ohio, but he managed it well on his Houston Superbike Yamaha R6 to earn his second straight AMA SuperSport win. Dominguez held off Hayden Gillim by 3.6 seconds at the flag. Wyatt Farris took third, 10 seconds back.

Series leader Corey Alexander crashed, and as a result losing the series lead.

Dominguez ran up front early holding off Gillim, but Alexander was charging from third until he crashed about five laps in.

Alexander’s fall left Dominguez and Gillim to battle for the win.  It also mixed up the championship battle with Gillim now having the opportunity to take sole possession of the series lead.

Wyatt Farris held off the rest of the 43-rider field in third.

Gillim now leads the SuperSport championship with Dominguez moving ever closer, now in second after two straight wins.

“At the beginning I made a couple little mistakes and Hayden got around me,” Dominguez said. “With as many riders that were out there I was concerned about a red flag so I wanted to lead every lap. Luckily I was able to get back in front of him and put my head down and was able to check out.”
