2018 St. Louis 450cc Supercross Results: Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac is absolutely unstoppable when he’s “on,” and he was definitely on in St. Louis. After setting fast time in the final qualifying session of the day, Tomac struggled in his heat race (finishing third), but then didn’t change anything on his motorcycle. Instead, he just got the holeshot in the main event and set sail.

Tomac got the start just in front of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s points leader Jason Anderson, Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin and Broc Tickle, and AutoTrader/JGR Suzuki’s Malcolm Stewart. After the first lap of the 450cc main event, Tomac had nearly two seconds on Anderson in second, and he just increased it from there, eventually winning by over 20 seconds over the points leader Anderson.

Anderson rode the entire race in second place, as did Musquin behind him in third. Last week’s winner, Motoconcepts/SmarTop Honda’s Justin Brayton, moved forward from about eighth on the first lap to end up fourth in the main event, with Stewart’s teammate Weston Peick ending up fifth. Just behind Peick came Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM’s Blake Baggett, who started well outside the top 10, and then Tickle rounded out the last of the racers on the lead lap in seventh.
In the end, though, Anderson still managed to stretch his championship lead from 40 to 42 points over Musquin with only six rounds left to run. Brayton sits third in points, 15 behind Musquin, and then Tomac sits fourth, just three points behind Brayton.
