Peick Takes Night One at Paris Lille Supercross

Riders storm off the line in the start of Saturday night’s main event.
Despite the Paris attacks the night prior, there were still over 20,000 spectators who filled the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille for night one of the Paris Lille Supercross. Weston Peick and Cooper Webb dazzled French fans with a battle for the lead, with Peick emerging the winner. Christophe Pourcel rounded out the podium in third on night one.
Many were expecting to see the James and Malcolm Stewart battle for the win, but James’ night was riddled with crashes. James topped the Superpole ahead of Pourcel with Malcolm following in third, but from there it was downhill. After crashing in his heat race, James came together with his brother Malcolm in the main event and went down. James limped back to the pits while Malcolm rode around to finish last.
The battle between Cooper Webb (17) and West Peick (28) was the highlight of the main event.
Peick moved into the lead on the second lap of the main while Webb was left to battle his way forward from a mid-pack start. Once Webb made his way around Pourcel for second, he began to dice with Peick, and although Webb stole the lead point multiple times, Peick found a way to grab it back each time, and crossed the finish line first. Valentin Guillod finished fourth followed by Frenchman Cedric Soubeyras in fifth.
