Mechanicsville, Maryland (July 12, 2014) – James Stewart posted the fastest lap during qualifying this morning for today’s round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Series at Budds Creek Raceway in Mechanicsville, Maryland. The Yoshimura Suzuki rider is coming off of a forgettable race last weekend at RedBud in Buchanan, Michigan, and he would like nothing better than to get back on the winning track, and topping the time charts in qualifying was a good start.

Series points leader Ken Roczen was second fastest, the Red Bull KTM rider posting a 1:58.217 in the second session, which was about five-tenths slower than Stewart’s 1:57.748, which, interestingly enough, he posted in the first session.

Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey finished qualifying in third at 1: 58.604, with Team Muscle Milk Honda’s Trey Canard (1:59.049) and GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac (1:59.375) rounding out the top five.

BTO Sports’ Andrew Short was fastest of the bottom half of the top 10, his 2:00.534 edging out Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Brett Metcalfe’s 2:00.825.

Meanwhile, TLD/Lucal Oil Honda’s Malcolm Stewart (2:01.159), GEICO Honda’s Christian Craig (2:01.331) and JGRMX/Toyota Yamaha’s Josh Grant (2:01.505) rounded out the top 10.
