It was business as usual at the 13th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Hyvinkaa, Finland, July 13, where Red Bull KTM’s Antonio Cairoli claimed his seventh overall victory of the season in the MXGP class and his teammate Jeffrey Herlings captured his 43rd career MX2 overall victory.

On what was described by many of the riders as being the toughest and roughest of the year, Cairoli made it look as smooth as silk. The Italian holeshot both motos and ran off with the double win for the overall victory.

All anyone else could do on this day was hope for second overall, which ended up going to Frenchman Steven Frossard on the Monster Energy Kawasaki. Despite crashing in the second moto, Frossard put together 3-2 moto finishes for second overall.

Kevin Strijbos, on the Rockstar Energy Suzuki, snuck onto the podium with 5-4 finishes for third overall.

Despite crashing hard in the second moto and having to pit for repairs, Belgian Jeremy Van Horebeek still claimed fourth overall via 2-10 moto finishes.

Honda’s Max Nagl rounded out the top five overall.

Jeffrey Herlings captured his 43rd career MX2 GP win in Finland.

Herlings was unstoppable in the MX2 class, but what else is new. The 19-year-old Dutchman won both motos with more than a minute to spar over his nearest rivals. The KTM rider, who has dominated the class all season long, is poised to clinch the MX2-class title at the next rounds.

The next-best rider in the MX2 class was Slovakia Tim Gajser. It was his fourth podium of the season and he did it with two third-place finishes.

Third overall went to Frenchman Jordi Tixier (Red Bull KTM), followed by fellow countrymen Dylan Ferrandis (Kawasaki) and Christophe Charlier (Yamaha).
