Johnny Campbell Racing/Rockstar Energy Honda’s Timmy Weigand kept his winning record intact after topping the featured GPR Stabilizer AMA West Coast Grand Prix Pro race at the 39th Annual Hilltoppers Grand Prix/Dave Oakleaf Memorial. The race was held at the 29 Palms Motorsports Complex outside of Twentynine Palms, California, April 6.

In the race, which was round three of the AMA District 37 Big 6 Grand Prix Series, Weigand had to chase FMF/KTM Factory Off-Road Racing Team’s Kurt Caselli for the first half of the 90-minute event, but Caselli ran into rear brake issues after that and elected to park his bike instead of risking injury on what is considered the fastest of all of the Big 6 courses.

With Caselli in the pits early, Weigand wound up in front alone the rest of the way, over a minute ahead of eventual runner-up, teammate Colton Udall.

Bob Roberts topped Morgan Crawford for the Vet Pro win, while JSR-supported Evan Kelly topped the WCGP Heavyweight Expert class.

Kelly was leading Sunday’s Heavyweight Expert race when his rear-brake pedal broke, handing the eventual win to Purvines Racing Beta’s Nick Burson.
