Dorna, the rights holders for the MotoGP World Championship, have announced that a test will be held at the new Circuito Internacional Termas de Rio Hondo in Argentina the first week of July. That means participating teams – Dorna says Honda, Yamaha and Ducati – will leave for Argentina straight after the Dutch Grand Prix at Assen.

The teams will be in Argentina from July 1 to July 5 with two days of testing followed by media commitments. Participating teams will then have to turn around and head back to Europe for the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring on July 14.

“MotoGP is the premier motorcycling competition in the world and, for this reason, official tests are key to ensuring the development of reliability and competitiveness at the highest levels,” states a release from Dorna. “Making best use of the official timing system, teams and riders will be looking to configure their motorcycles to perfection across each and every lap.”

The MotoGP World Championship has a round scheduled for Argentina in 2014.
