Narbonne Gets His First

MILLVILLE, NJ, SEPT 9 – Shane Narbonne took his first Vance & Hines XR1200 race when challenger Travis Wyman had a nasty high-side in pursuit just a few corners from the end of the 12-lap race at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Narbonne and Wyman had been part of a seven-rider nose-to-tail pack that were rarely separated by more than second over the course of the first 11 laps. A number of riders took turns at the front, but not Narbonne. It wasn’t until early on the final lap that he took the lead and controlled the pace.

Wyman was chasing Narbonne in the Turn 11A kink right when Wyman lost the rear, then pitched him to the ground. Narbonne (Teterboro Rams LLC/Newsholme Financial Center) had a clear path to victory, winning by 1.113 secs. As the riders behind danced to avoid the carnage, KLR Group/Spyke’s Harley-Davidson’s Michael Barnes stole second from former teammate Tyler O’Hara (Scrubblade/Bartel’s Harley-Davidson), who he beat to the line by .004 sec.

Suburban Harley-Davidson’s Benny Carlson was fourth, less than a tenth of a second back, with Jake Holden fifth on the Mob Racing/Teterboro Rams LLC XR1200.

Tyler Wyman (Harv’s Harley-Davidson) was the final rider in the lead pack, finishing sixth.

With Narbonne not in the XR Showdown, Benny Carlson took over the championship lead with 1064 points. Kyle Wyman, who was credited with 15th, is second at 1062, with O’Hara third at 1061 and Banres at 1060.
