New Yorker PJ Jacobsen will make his British Supersport debut this weekend at the Circuit van Drenthe in Assen, Holland, as the British Superbike Series makes its debut there.

Jacobsen has been racing for the Tyco Suzuki team in the Superstock class, winning two weeks ago at Donington Park. This weekend he moves to the Supersport class where he will ride the team’s GSX-R600.

“I’m really pumped to be getting to ride the Tyco Suzuki GSX-R600,” Jacobsen said. “It’s a proven championship-winning bike and, having compared some lap times from last year, I know the bike is up to the job; and the rest is just down to me. Donington was great for everyone, but Assen will be a whole new experience. I’m with a great team and a great bunch of guys, who I’m having a lot of fun with, so I just can’t wait to get on the gas!”

Team manager Philip Neill says Jacobsen earned the ride.

“After a great weekend at Donington with three wins, which included PJ’s superb performance in the Superstock class, it obviously generated an immediate discussion on his future within our team. PJ’s initial contact with me was always based on a Supersport ride, and even though our intention was not to compete in the class this year, it was a pretty easy decision for TAS Racing and our sponsors Tyco Security Products to make following Donington Park. Even though he has yet to ride our championship-winning GSX-R600, PJ has ridden Assen before and it’s a unique opportunity at an iconic circuit that we just couldn’t overlook.”
