Beck Joins Wyman Racing For Indy

Cycle News Staff | August 15, 2012

Road racer Michael Beck will ride a Kyle Wyman Racing Harley-Davidson XR1200 in this weekend’s Vance & Hines XR1200 races during the Red Bull Indy GP at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Beck will ride alongside championship contenders Kyle Wyman and Michael Barnes on their KLR Group/Spyke’s Harley-Davidson XR1200s.

Beck competed in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 series in 2011, recording four top-five results, with podium finishes at Mid-Ohio and New Jersey. This weekend’s races will mark Beck’s first XR races of the season.

“I’m stoked to finally be back on an XR1200,” Beck said. “I never wanted to stop. They are so much fun to ride and race, and being in front of the Moto GP crowd at Indianapolis, where there is so much history, will be awesome. My thanks to Kyle Wyman, Jim Leonard and Parts Unlimited for putting this deal together. I am very grateful for the opportunity; now I just can’t wait to ride.”

Team owner/rider Wyman is happy to have another teammate at what is arguably the biggest race of the season.

“We’ll be three riders strong for the weekend and with two races on the schedule it’ll help a bunch to have the extra support,” Wyman said. “It’s really cool to see what our team has grown to be this year. It’s encouraging to see a great company like Parts Unlimited come back into the series. It’s perfect timing because this weekend’s event will let them capitalize on the opportunity that the GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing Series, Vance & Hines and Harley-Davidson have provided for us. We’re ready to race.”

The two AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series races from Indianapolis will air beginning at 5 p.m., Sunday, on SPEED TV.
