“I felt fairly comfortable, fairly loose, so I thought I’d just set my own pace,” he said. “I managed to inch away a little bit. Once we got that gap, it was a pretty clean run.”

Husaberg’s Nick Fahringer finished second, while FMF/KTM’s Russell Bobbitt got on the podium in third. Fahringer and Bobbitt battled for much of the race until Fahringer pulled away at the end, finishing about a minute and a half behind Whibley and about 30 seconds ahead of Bobbitt.

Whibley’s teammate Jordan Ashburn finished fourth, followed by Scott Watkins, Shane Klimek, Open A winner Keith Zaagman, (30-39) A winner Marty Michaels, Steve Leivan and Brett Zofchak.
