Toronto, Canada (March 24, 2012) – Justin Brayton turned the fastest lap in qualifying for tonight’s round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross in Toronto’s Rogers Center, the Muscle Milk Honda rider posting a time that was just over two-tenths of a second faster than series points leader Ryan Villopoto.

GEICO Powersports Honda’s Kevin Windham was third-fastest, less than a tenth behind Villopoto.

Next in the order was Villopoto’s Monster Energy Kawasaki teammate Jake Weimer, with JGRMX Yamaha’s Davi Millsaps rounding out the top five in qualifying.

The sixth through 10th place spots were occupied by Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin, Star/Valli Yamaha’s Nicco Izzi, Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Broc Tickle, Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Brett Metcalfe and Jeff Ward Racing’s Kyle Chisholm.

Last week in St. Louis, Brayton turned in his best finish ever with a second behind Villopoto. On the loose and rutted dirt in the Rogers Center, Brayton appears to be upping the ante, and trying for his first win.

Heading into tonight’s race, Villopoto has a massive, 54-point lead in the series standings over KTM’s Ryan Dungey, however Dungey is out for the season. Third in the standings is James Stewart, however, the JGRMX Yamaha rider is sitting this race out after suffering a nasty crash in St. Louis.

The next closest rider in points to Villopoto who is actually racing this weekend is Millsaps, who sits fourth in points some 195 points behind the leader.

In the Lites division, Justin Bogle was fastest, beating out his GEICO Powersports Honda teammate Justin Barcia by just over two-tenths. St. Louis winner Blake Wharton was third-fastest on his Rockstar Suzuki, while J-Star KTM’s Malcolm Stewart and Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Darryn Durham rounded out the top five.
