ANAHEIM, CA, FEB. 4 – Geico Honda’s Eli Tomac took control of the Monster Energy Western Regional Supercross Lites Series tonight with his third straight victory – this one coming in front of packed house at Angel Stadium.

Tomac got the holeshot at the start of the 15-lap final, but it was Troy Lee Designs’ Cole Seely who came out of the first corner with the lead. Seely held that lead for the first three laps, but then he crashed, giving the lead to Tomac. Although Seely was able to remount in second place, he was never able to threaten the championship points leader. All he could do was watch Tomac ride away into the distance, ultimately winning by 4.8 seconds after slowing in the final laps.

Third place tonight went to Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin, the Frenchman ending up 7.4 seconds behind Tomac but four seconds clear of fourth-placed Dean Wilson on the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki.

Fifth place went to Star Valli Yamaha’s Nico Izzi, the Menifee, California, resident battling for most of the race with his teammate Ryan Sipes. Sipes, however, went down late in the race and ended up 11th.

Sipes’ miscue moved Michael Lieb to sixth – a career best for the Rocket Exhaust Honda rider.

Seventh went to Australian Matt Moss on the JDR/Star KTM. Vince Freise, Travis Baker and Martin Davalos, who had to come back from a crash, rounded out the top 10.
