ANAHEIM, CA, FEB. 4 – The track got faster for the second Lites qualifying session at Angel Stadium this afternoon. A lot faster. How about two seconds faster? But despite the change, the top two riders remained the same – though the order had changed.

In the end it was Star Valli Yamaha’s Nico Izzi topping the session with his 56.570 – 2.2 seconds faster than the time he set in ending up second in the first session. This time he was faster than the man who was ahead of him in that first session – his teammate Ryan Sipes.

Sipes chopped over two seconds off his previous best on a track that was made easier when track builders chopped the big set of whoops down – making the section quicker.

“The track conditions are a lot better,” Izzi said. “The whoops are a lot easier.”

Troy Lee Designs’ Cole Seely, the winner of the first of the two Anaheim Supercrosses, ended up third, as the two Star Valli riders were the only ones to get into the 56s. Seely lapped at a best of 57.083.

The came Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Dean Wilson with his 57.359 to top series points leader Eli Tomac, the Geico Honda rider settling for the fifth best time in advance of tonight’s heat races.
