Road America Ready for Racing

The following is from Road AmericaCycles to Spark Road America’s June ScheduleElkhart Lake, Wis., May 26, 2011–Motorcycles will mark the start of Road America’s summer schedule across the first two weekends in June.AMA Pro riders will push the limits during the Subway Superbike Doubleheader, June 3-5. The following weekend, June 10-12, AHRMA riders compete in the Vintage Motorcycle Classic. Both weekends bring the cycle community together at one of the country’s most challenging and scenic road circuits.Fans find the best of both worlds at Road America: incredible racing and a natural, park-like setting.Superbike weekend heats up the track as riders reach record-breaking speeds in three multi- manufacturer classes: SuperBike, SportBike and SuperSport. Each class has a race on Saturday and Sunday. The XR1200 Series is a Harley-Davidson spec class with one Sunday race. All seven races provide fans with up-close viewing of the world’s most intense and unpredictable forms of motorsports.A true appreciation for the undulating road course can be gained during daily sessions of the Innovative Technologies Salute to Cycles. Fans with cycles are encouraged to pre-register for this unique on-track experience.Pre-race ceremonies include a fan walk, which allows fans out on the grid to see the bikes and get rider autographs. Other fan activities include concession karting, shows by stunt rider Jason Britton, the WNCC9 Combat Championship, a drag racing demo, and a supermoto exhibition featuring AMA Supermoto Champ Benny Carlson and Flat Track star JR Schnabel.The following weekend over 400 classic bikes will participate in the Vintage Motorcycle Classic, an event sanctioned by the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA).
