Kyle Regal To Return Sooner Than Expected

It appears that the injury to Kyle Regal’s wrist is less severe than first thought and according to his San Manuel Yamaha team, the Texan is hoping to get back to racing at the Dallas round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series on April 2.Regal broke his wrist while practicing the weekend before the Daytona Supercross and, at that time, was expected to miss the rest of the Supercross Championship. However, after further evaluation, Regal, it turns out, did not break the hard-to-heal scaphoid bone in the wrist but instead chipped the radius bone, which heals much faster. The scaphoid is the same bone that his teammate James Stewart broke that caused him to sit out almost the entire 2010 season. Still, Regal must get further evaluation in the next few days, but if all goes well, Regal might see action again very soon, perhaps as soon as Dallas.

“I’m so stoked to get to come back,” Regal said. “When I first heard it might be the scaphoid, I was really bummed, because I remember when it happened to James and how long it took for his to heal. Luckily for me it isn’t that serious and I’m trying to get back as soon as possible.”

Regal is currently in 15th place with 60 points.

And speaking of the San Manuel Yamaha team, James Stewart is still expected to race this weekend in Toronto following his brutal crash last weekend in Jacksonville, Florida. The team announced that Stewart did not suffer any major injuries but is bruised and banged up.
