Webb To Take Over Suzuki Supercross Efforts

Suzuki announced over the weekend that off-road racing legend Mike Webb will be handling Suzuki’s Supercross/Motocross teams during the 2011 season. Webb, who has managed Suzuki’s GNCC off-road effort since 1992, will be filling the void left by the unexpected departure of Roger DeCoster a few weeks ago.

“I’m really excited for this opportunity to help defend the AMA Supercross and Motocross titles that Ryan Dungey so masterfully won this year,” Webb said. “I’m thrilled to be working with the team and Yoshimura, as we’re all fully committed to keeping that Number One plate on the RM-Z450. I think 2011 is going to be a great season for us, for Suzuki, and for the RM-Z450.”While serving as team manager for Rockstar Makita Suzuki, Webb will enlist additional help from multi-time Supercross/Motocross champion Ricky Carmichael, who will serve as team adviser. Carmichael will be helping to fully prepare team Suzuki for competition and advising them on bike set-up, race strategy and overall training approaches

.”Ricky is an undisputable Champion,” said Webb. “I can’t think of a better guy to help the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team to another winning season and I know the racers will all benefit from having him on our side.”Over the years, Webb has helped Suzuki earn countless Championships in off-road racing, and is well on his way to another title with Josh Strang, who is leading this year’s GNCC series.
