The following is from X Games 16…Looks like the energy drink outfits are escalating their efforts to supercharge athletes at X Games 16. The Monster Army has mobilized, Red Bull has given its sponsored athletes wings to get out of the trenches and Rockstar has mechanized the Metal Mulisha for the X Games return to Los Angeles starting this Thursday. Don’t miss any of the action starting at the historic LA Coliseum on Thursday, July 29. Tickets are only $16 and available at www.ticketmaster.com/xgames.The Monster Energy team has expanded to an army of seven moto maniacs and two Rally Car racers for the X Games 16 competition at the Coliseum. Watch for the two-time Moto X Super X gold medalist Josh Hansen to go for the three-peat on his Monster Kawasaki under orders from Pro Circuit supreme commander Mitch Payton. Actually Hanson is looking for a hat trick this year by adding Speed & Style and Best Whip to his 2010 X Games campaign.Also look for three-time Moto X Best Trick gold medalist Kyle Loza to defend his territory despite being wounded in action recently and injuring his wrist. Originally making the battle tougher for Loza was the fact he was going to be facing Monster Energy teammate Blake “Bilko” Williams. Bad news as Bilko had to drop out of the ranks because of his recent shoulder injury. Instead of doing double duty in Best Trick and defending his Freestyle MX gold medal against a serious attack from fellow Monster Army man Adam Jones (who just won at the X Fighters competition), Bilko has had to wave the white flag.More Monster moto forces in action include Nate Adams in the Speed & Style competition (Nate will also be in the mix for Freestyle MX); veteran racer Nick Wey going for gold in Super X and Sarah Price battling on the distaff side in Women’s Super X racing. Meanwhile BMX legend Dave Mirra will be competing on both 2- and 4-wheels again for X Games 16 as he goes from BMX Park competition to Rally Car Racing. Mirra and full-time WRC driver Ken Block will be competing in both Rally Racing and the new Super Rally event, which puts for cars on the track at once! Click on www.monsterenergy.com for updated intel from the front during the full four day campaign.Speaking of Rally cars, the infamous Metal Mulisha has teamed forces with Ford and Rockstar Energy Drink to give some lucky winner the keys to Brian Deegan’s 2011 Ford Fiesta Rally Car. The only catch is the one of the Mulisha guys has to grab the gold in the moto X Best Trick competition. Any fan is eligible, just check out the Ford display at the X-Fest Village and register to be partnered with one of the Metal Mulisha riders or fans can text “Ford” to 66937.If Cam Sinclair, Jackson Strong or Taka Higishino wins Best Trick the winning fan partnered with them goes home with the tricked out Fiesta. The hot ticket is to text to win. Random winners will be selected Friday at 3 p.m. to attend that night’s Best Trick event and 3 p.m. on Saturday for Rally. Fans can get autographs from the Mulisha troops at the Ford tent Thursday 1-2 p.m. at the Los Angeles Coliseum and Friday from 12-1 p.m. at Staples Center.
