GAS CITY , Ind. (June 19, 2010) – Henry Wiles had another one of his strong performances Saturday night in the AMA Pro K&N Filters Grand National Championship presented by Motorcyclesuperstore.com event at Gas City/I-69 Speedway. Wiles led all 25 laps of the main event and scored his second victory of the season on his Monster Energy Kawasaki. Jared Mees was runner-up on his Rockysonline/ Montgomeryville Cycle Center/Lucas Oil, Rogers Lake Racing Honda, 6-10ths of a second behind Wiles. Joe Kopp scored third on his Latus Harley-Davidson/Moto Concepts/ Jones Powersports Honda.

Kopp’s finish was good enough to extend his AMA Grand National Series lead to 14 points over Jake Johnson, who finished 13th.

Wiles jumped out to a solid lead in the initial start and a red-flag restart only to have Mees and Kopp close in at one point.

“It was one of those nights where I experimented with lines during the race,” said Wiles, who moved past Mees for third in the standings. “I think that’s why those guys pulled up on me a bit, but I had to find out what was the fast way around the track and fortunately it worked.”

The race was stopped just before the halfway mark when Don Taylor crashed hard in turn one. Taylor was dinged up in the accident and was unable to make the restart.

A sparse crowd was on hand for the rain date make up event.

Jeffrey Carver was dominant in the AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com Pro Singles final, winning over James Rispoli by 2.88 seconds. Brian Tapp was third.

“I was just being smooth as I could out there,” said Carver of his winning ride on his Vans/ Yamaha Motor Corp. Yamaha. “I wasn’t even going over three-quarters throttle and I didn’t look back until the end of the race. When I saw my gap I let out a big yell because I knew I had it.”

It marked Carver’s second Pro Singles win of the year. Carver has a massive 35-point lead in the series over Rispoli.

The series moves to Lima, Ohio, and the famous Allen Country Fairgrounds cushion Half-Mile this coming Saturday, June 26.
