Bostrom Leads Infineon Test

With day one of the two-day Infineon Raceway test in the books, Yamaha’s Ben Bostrom came away from the Sonoma, California, racetrack with the quickest American Superbike time, according to the track.Bostrom lapped at 1:37.19 on the 2.2-mile road course as teams prepared for the May 16-17 doubleheader at Infineon in the first of three AMA Pro RAcing-sanctioned test slated for the 2009 season. Ben Spies set the Superbike lap record at Infineon during qualifying last year, the Texan who has since departed for the World Superbike Championship lapping at 1:34.731 on his full Superbike-spec GSX-R1000.Second fastest on the first day of testing was Bostrom’s teammate Josh Hayes. Hayes rode his R1 to a 1:37.6, just fractions ahead of Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Mat Mladin, the Australian testing his new 2009 GSX-R1000 for the first time.The fastest of the Daytona SportBike riders was Attack Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking, the South Carolinan lapping at 1:39.4. He was followed by Graves Yamaha teammates Josh Herrin and Tommy Aquino.Testing continues tomorrow.Lap times:AMERICAN SUPERBIKE
