Schwantz Headed To New Zealand
Paul Carruthers | February 6, 2009
Former 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz and his father Jim were visitors to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, on Wednesday, the pair taking advantage of a long layover in Los Angeles to take in a few hours of the AMA test at the speedway. Schwantz was en route to New Zealand where he will ride a 1962 Manx Norton in the 30th Classic Festival at Pukekohe Raceway. Although he is the event’s Guest of Honor, Schwantz will differ from past honorees Geoff Duke, Umberto Masetti, John Surtees and Giacomo Agostini in that he will actually race the Manx Norton rather than just do parade laps.
