FIM Announces 2009 Red Bull MXoN in Italy

In occasion of the 62nd edition of the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations Youthstream and its partners announced important news on the 2009 calendar hosting the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations at Franciacorta, Italy, and the Honda Motocross Grand Prix of Brazil at Canelinha, Santa Caterina (Brazil). 

Next year’s Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations will come back to Italy after a 23 year absence as the last “Olympics of Motocross” held in the peninsula dates back to 1986 at Maggiora.

Next year’s event is to represent the 63rd edition of the Red Bull Motocross of Nations and it will be held at the Autodromo di Franciacorta “Daniel Bonara”, a permanent road racing facility in Brescia where a new track will be built especially for the greatest motocross event of the year.

Being located in the North-Centre of Italy very close to Milan the Autodromo di Franciacorta “Daniel Bonara” matches all the required standards for the event being extremely well linked with the whole world which attends the Red Bull MXoN in crowds every year.

Announcing the 2009 Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations were Youthstream President Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, FIM/CMS President Dr. Wolfgang Srb, FMI President Dr. Paolo Sesti, local promoter DBO General Manager Mr. Danilo Boccadolce and Autodromo di Franciacorta owner Mr. Ettore Bonara.

Being promoted on a local level by the most important Brazilian sports publisher Lance, represented in Donington by Event Manager Mr. Rafael Rocha, the Honda Motocross Grand Prix of Brazil at Canelinha, Santa Caterina (Brazil) will represent the comeback of the series to Brazil after its latest appearance in 1999 at Indaiatuba for the prestigious Red Bull Motocross of Nations.

The event will see also Honda stepping in as the Title sponsor. This comeback to Latin America will open new key markets for all the actors involved in the Championship and it also means a broader diffusion of the World Motocross Championship now attracting several multinational companies as valid partners.

Attending the press conference announcing the event were also Youthstream President Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, FIM/CMS President Dr. Wolfgang Srb, President of the Motorcycling Federation of Brazil Mr. Alexandre Caravana, President of the Motorcycling Federation of Santa Caterina (part of the Motorcycling Federation of Brazil) Mr. Onilio Cidade Filho, Honda Brazil Racing Promotion Manager Mr. Wilson Yasuda.

The Honda Grand Prix of Brazil will be held in September 2009.

The 2009 calendar will be approved by the FIM during the October congress in South Africa.
