Stewart and Villopoto Looking Fast

Shan Moore | June 8, 2008

Kawasaki riders James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto are looking fast in timed practice this morning, in preparation for round three of the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Series at Freestone Country Raceway in Wortham, Texas. Both riders topped their respective divisions on the well-prepared and deeply disked track, giving them first gate picks in each of their races.

It’s already getting hot and by afternoon the temperature is expected to get close to 100 degrees with lots of humidity, although there is a slight chance of rain later in the day.

Honda riders Andrew Short and Davi Millsaps are also looking good in the Motocross class, while Kawasaki’s Austin Stroupe and Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey are each about a second off of Villopoto’s times in the Lites division.

Two riders who will not be on the starting line this weekend are Ben Townley, who is taking a couple of weeks off to recover from an ankle injury, and Nico Izzi, who suffered a concussion in the second Lites moto at Hangtown.
