Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart  topped the lap charts during the final practice session of the day at round 12 of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series held at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

Stewart posted the fastest lap of practice and was the only rider to break the 50-second mark, turning in a 49.597 second lap. Carmichael claimed the second fastest time on his Makita Suzuki with a 50.007, while Team Yamaha’s Chad Reed, who is still riding with a tender shoulder, was third fastest with a 51.068.

Stewart’s Team Kawasaki teammate Michael Byrne came next with a 51.872, followed by Team Honda’s Travis Preston (51.892) and MDK/Motosport’s Nick Wey (52.081).

In the Lites division, Team Honda’s Davi Millsaps topped the second practice session with a 51.124-second lap, which was over a half a second faster than Sobe/Samsung/Mobile/Honda’s Josh Grant, who turned in a 51.777. Motosport.com’s Rob Kiniry came next with a 53.043, followed by Yamaha of Troy’s Branden Jesseman with a 53.265.

Most of the riders liked the track and thought it was faster than usual, with lots of jumps and more rhythm stuff with multiple lines. This the first race in Detroit’s new Ford Field after 29 years in the Silverdome in Pontiac.
