McCoy To Run Own GNC Team, Race Pro Stock Bike

| January 25, 2006
AMA Grand National number 59 Willie McCoy of Texas will not be with Chris Carr’s Ford Quality Checked Certified Pre-owned Racing Team in 2006, and instead is planning on racing the entire 2006 AMA GNC schedule on his own bikes. McCoy also said that he is planning on venturing into NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle racing in the future as well.

“Karl and Kim Klement from Karl Klement Ford are starting a new team,” McCoy said. “We are getting everything ready this year so we will be ready for the 2007 season. We might even race a few non-conflicting races this year. I just got back from the Frank Hawley’s drag racing school in Gainesville, Florida. George Bryce from G2/Star racing taught the class. He said I did great for my first time and was impressed. I have four of my six runs needed to qualify for my NHRA license. My last run I ran a 7.93 at 162 mph on a school bike that was down on power. I’m looking forward to a great year.”
