ICE To Debut Manufacturer’s Cup Flat Track

| September 1, 2005
The following is a release from International Championship Events (ICE):

As part of the 30th anniversary celebration season, International Championship Events/ICE will debut a new division of professional racing. The Manufacturers’ World Cup Ice Racing Championship will be contested for the first time in this winter’s 30th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series.

The spirit of this new pro racing division is intended to showcase top motorcycle racers on state-of-the-art off-road factory performance bikes. Race fans will be the biggest benefactors of this new ice racing class. They will have the opportunity to watch their favorite riders, up close and personal, as they compete on ice ovals in some of America’s finest sports arenas. Riders will be competing for cash and World Cup Points to see who will be the first champion in the new series.

Five (5) popular machines have been approved for competition in the inaugural Manufacturers Cup chase. All are lightweight, high-performance, high-horsepower, four-stroke singles. In alphabetical order they are: Honda CRF450R; Kawasaki KX450F; KTM 450SX; Suzuki RM-Z450 and Yamaha YZ450F.

Certain oval track performance-enhancing modifications will be allowed to the chassis. However, the OEM engine formula and plastic must be maintained. OEM logos must also be placed conspicuously on both sides of the machine. Technical and safety rules exclusive to ice racing will be in effect.
