Surfercross Held Today

| August 3, 2004

The first day of the sixth annual Fox Surfercross just wrapped up today. Each year professional surfers and motocrossers alike come out to team up and have some fun. And this year was no different, as some pretty big names in both surfing and motocross alike showed up to participate in the event.

Surfercross is held over two days, consisting of a team motocross race on the first day and a surfing event on the second. Each pro team is made up of one surfer and one motocrosser. There is also an Industry-class where industry regulars from both surfing and motocross compete for top honors.

Today the motocross portion was held at Starwest Motocross Park. And taking the win in the Pro-class was the team of Josh Hansen and Scott Farnsworth. In second was Michael Byrne and Cordell Miller and in third was Ryan Newton and Chava Greenland. In the Industry-class it was Mike Bell and his teammate Greg Lasiewski taking the win ahead of Terry Beal and Malcolm McCassy in second, and rounding out the top three was Jeff Weiner and Brandon Jefferies.

Tomorrow the whole crew heads to the beach where it will be time for the surfers to let their true talents show. It will definitely be interesting to see the motocross racers try their luck out on the water.
