The following is a release from Racer Productions –

Racer Productions, the producer of the AMA Grand National Cross Country Series, has announced that the Spartan GNCC in Sparta, Kentucky, a race that was cancelled due to rain in May, has been rescheduled for September 11th and 12th.

In a change with the typical GNCC format, motorcycles will race the Spartan on Saturday, September 11th. ATVs will race on Sunday, September 12th.

The GNCC Youth Series will run on Saturday at 4 p.m. after the motorcycle pro race. All motorcycle, youth and ATV classes will run at the Spartan. Riders who race the Big Wheel class on Saturday morning will not be eligible to compete in the Youth race Saturday afternoon, however.

Heavy rain struck down on the Sparta facility all week leading up to the May race date. Rain again Saturday evening made the parking and camping facilities impassable even for four-wheel drive trucks. With the racers unable to enter the facility and set up their pits, the race was postponed. After a lengthy period of public comment, racers in the GNCC series asked to have the race rescheduled instead of cancelled altogether. In addition, the race will extend the dramatic GNCC Championship chase between FMF Suzuki’s Rodney Smith and Am Pro Yamaha’s Jason Raines.

The race will run at the same Sparta facility it had originally run in May. To get to the race, take I-71 to Exit 57 and follow signs two miles to the track. For more information, log on to GNCCRacing.com.
