Clear Channel Entertainment’s Motor Sports division announced today that three-time THQ AMA Supercross Series champion Ricky Carmichael, of Havana, Fla., will race in the two international rounds of THQ World Supercross GP that kicks of at the SkyDome in on Toronto December 4 and concludes at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on May 7.
Carmichael was scheduled to race in the THQ World Supercross GP last season, but a knee injury sidelined the 10-time AMA National Champion. This season Carmichael returns to supercross racing with his eye on his first THQ World Supercross GP championship.
“THQ World Supercross GP gives us a chance to showcase our talent on an international level,” said Carmichael. “I am excited to compete for my first THQ World Supercross GP title against a field of very talented riders. The two races in Toronto and Vancouver gives me a chance to help expose the great sport of supercross to the international marketplace.”

The two international races coupled with 15 of the domestic races (excluding the Daytona Supercross) comprise the 17-round THQ World Supercross GP. In 2003, Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., won the THQ World Supercross GP championship, capturing nine main event wins on the year. Last season Heath Voss, of Mico, Texas piloted his Mach 1 Yamaha to the THQ World Supercross GP championship, earning top honors and giving Yamaha its second world championship in as many seasons.
