Hall of Fame Race Moves Away

The Dirt Track Hall of Fame Race presented by Quality Checked Pre-owned Ford, and the Hall of Fame Banquet have moved to the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington, Delaware.

Traditionally at the Springfield Mile, the Hall of Fame race will be held this year on the Harrington Half-Mile on Saturday, August 3, 2002. The $50,000 AMA Progressive Insurance Grand National Hall of Fame Race has been moved to Harrington to coincide with this years theme, “Heroes Of The Half-Mile.”

The Dirt Track Hall of Fame honors the luminaries of the sport, and offers their high standards of accomplishment as goals for future generations. Those who have been inducted into the Dirt Track Hall of Fame have records and reputations that have withstood the difficult test of time.

Eligibility for induction into the Dirt Track Hall of Fame is extended to the sport’s legends both on and off the track, whose exemplary achievements and unquestioned dedication represent the core of this great American sport. Inductees are characterized by their desire to win, mastery of their field and their passion for Dirt Track motorcycle racing.

This historic weekend will kick off with the Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Clubhouse on the State Fairgrounds in Harrington. The Dave Despain emceed banquet will honor the “Heroes Of The Half-Mile” and induct the class of 2002 into the Dirt Track Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
