RC Closes in on Record

Team Chevy Trucks Kawasaki rider Ricky Carmichael can add another chapter to his storied career with a win in the next round of the AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships in Buchanan, Michigan, tomorrow. A victory at Red Bud Track-N-Trail would give Carmichael a total of 37 for his career, tying the all-time motocross win record established by Bob Hannah, whose AMA career lasted from 1976 to 1987.

Carmichael’s run at history has rekindled the fire that was burning during a record-tying Supercross streak performed earlier this year that saw the 21-year old Floridian capture 13 consecutive main events (14 on the season) en route to his first 250cc title.

Carmichael, who has ridden Kawasaki motorcycles his entire racing career, continues his quest this summer for a second consecutive AMA 250cc Motocross Championship. He has racked up two overall wins through five rounds and holds a 13-point lead in the series standings with seven races remaining on the schedule.

With 63 career victories in supercross and motocross, Carmichael continues his climb up the all-time win list. He has accumulated an impressive 54.3% winning percentage (113 races entered), and is the winningest rider in Kawasaki history, eclipsing the previous mark of 56 set by Jeff Ward, who won six AMA Supercross and Motocross championships aboard Kawasaki motorcycles.

Kawasaki’s professional motocross program has produced more 250, 125 and 500 AMA Supercross and Motocross Championships than any other manufacturer over the past decade (1992-present), amassing an impressive 18 titles during that span.
