2025 BMW M 1000 R
The BMW M 1000 R nakedbike roadster has stood paired with the Ducati Streetfighter V4 as the pinnacle of the segment for a few years now, so it was reasonable to expect not too many changes would be made for 2025.
Unlike the M 1000 RR superbike, the single R roadster’s engine remains unchanged for 2025, still pumping out an arm-stretching 205 hp, with weight claimed at 438.7 lb ready to go.
Like the M and S 1000 RR’s, the M 1000 R gets the new 58° M Quick-Action throttle, which BMW claims brings a noticeable improvement in performance, especially in Race mode while at the track.
The Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) function has also been improved with mapping taken from the RR superbikes.
Up front is a new dual-flow LED headlight, again taken from the RR models, and of course, you get BMW M winglets, although these designs are exclusive to the roadster as it doesn’t come with the superbike’s all-encompassing fairing.
The 2025 BMW M 1000 R is available in three styles—Basic in Light White with M Motorsport graphics, Basic or M Competition in White Aluminum Metallic Matte and M Competition in Black Storm Metallic with m Motorsport graphics.
Like the superbikes, models will be in dealers in the second quarter of 2025 with prices expected to come in the New Year.

2025 BMW S 1000 R
The S 1000 R, on the other hand, gets a few extra goodies for 2025. Power has been boosted five horsepower to a claimed 170 hp at 11,000 rpm, although torque remains at 84 lb-ft at 9250 rpm.
Getting this enhanced go to the tire comes the via new (for all four M and S 1000 RR/R models) 52° M Quick-Action throttle and a shorter final drive ratio, with a 17-tooth front sprocket matching to a 46-tooth rear.
New for the S 1000 R for 2025 is the addition of BMW’s Standard Drag Torque Control (MSR) and Engine Brake function. The single R now comes with Drag Torque Control (MSR), usually a feature on the higher-end M models. The system works in conjunction with a slipper clutch to prevent the rear wheel from locking up under heavy deceleration/quickly closing the throttle, but there’s only so much a slipper clutch can do, especially in wet conditions.
The MSR thus, depending on the riding mode selected, opens the throttle bodies a touch to help belled off some of the reverse torque and help keep the rear wheel in line and within the tire’s grip range. So, in Rain mode you get the maximum engine brake and MSR, Road mode also gives the maximum engine brake and MSR, Dynamic mode gets you medium engine brake and MSR, as does the Dynamic Pro mode with medium engine brake and MSR. Additionally, this mode offers the possibility to set the engine brake and MSR to minimum.
Also standard for the new 2025 S 1000 R is the short license plate holder, USB-C socket, and Intelligent Emergency Call in case it goes rubber side up.
The 2025 BMW S 1000 R is available in three styles—Basic in Black Storm Metallic with Black rear frame, Style Sport in Bluefire with Mugello Yellow rear frame and M Package in Light White with M Motorsport graphics and black rear frame.
It’ll come in Q2 of 2025 and prices will come in the New Year.
