Vans Triple Crown Final Round

| November 20, 2000

After scoring the win on the first of two nights of freestyle competition in San Diego at the final round of the Vans Triple Crown of Freestyle Motocross this past Friday, Tommy Clowers rode safe on Saturday to protect his points lead. His Saturday run was flawless, but not as crazy as usual. He didn’t want to risk crashing and lose the championship to Clifford Adoptante or Mike Jones. Jones couldn’t feel his right arm, due to an infection through stitches in a wound. Nevertheless, his Saturday qualifier was one of his best-ever runs. His final run wasn’t as strong.

Results:

Friday: 1. Tommy Clowers (Hon) 92.1; 2. Clifford Adoptante (Suz) 91.4; 3. Dustin Miller (Hon) 91.3; 4. Trevor Vines 91.3; 5. Drake McElroy 90.8.

Saturday: 1. Clifford Adoptante (Suz) 92.9; 2. Mike Jones (Kaw) 92.4; 3. Dustin Miller (Hon) 92.3; 4. Tommy Clowers (Hon) 92.3*; 5. Kenny Bartram (Yam) 91.6.
