Standard Motorcycle Reviews
Standard Motorcycle definitions are broad and sort of a catch-all for everything that is simply a street motorcycle outside the niches of other categories. Cycle News features the latest Standard Bike news, tests, reviews and comparisons. Sometimes called Naked Bikes, these machines get back to basics with open cockpits, upright or relaxed posture and exposed engines and frames. Standard Bikes are comfortable and can range from mellow entry-level budget bikes to stripped down performance machines built for attacking corners and flaunting speed. Frills are kept to a minimum and motorcycling gets back to its core. They aren’t retro, because they’ve never really changed.
Standard Motorcycle Comparisons and News on Cycle News
The go-to Standard Bike example must be the traditional Triumph with it’s compact riding stance and open appearance, showing off the simplicity of a motorcycle. Today, nearly every major motorcycle manufacturer is taking on the Standard segment. Headline-grabbing models from Yamaha, Ducati, BMW and others keep the segment relative in the mainstream while niche brands like Royal Enfield build nothing but Standards. Motorcycling simplicity is what it’s all about.
