New Corsair!
Arai has a brand-new street helmet – the Corsair-V. It has new innovations, patents, advances and updates in every area of the helmet over its predecessor, the RX-7 Corsair. Starting with the shell of the handmade Arai Corsair-V, there's a new "peripheral belt" that extends across the shell's forehead area above the eye opening for increased structural integrity: The belt made it possible for the eyeport opening to be 10mm wider than the RX-7 for improved peripheral vision. The helmet's neck roll is now removable and replaceable, and there's an additional exhaust vent through its bottom via shallow channels in the EPS liner for better removal of interior air. Arai's distinctive brow vents on the faceshield (as opposed to on the helmet structure) now send incoming air to the temple and ear areas instead of to the fa
ce, and overall ventilation has been improved.
The most visible addition to the Corsair-V's is the new AirWing. It's designed to greatly reduce drag, turbulence and buffeting, and is adjustable five ways to tune it for different riding styles and situations. A new outward-flaring Hyper-Ridge circling the shell's lower area results in a larger opening for easier on and off, while adding shell strength at the bottom to keep the helmet from feeling heavy on the crown of the head making it more balanced at speed. And to go with all these upgrades, Arai has some new graphics, including the Aoyama replica shown here.
