WILSONVILLE, OR
For 26 years, the Oregon Motorcycle Old-Timer Group banquet has been a huge success. Once a year, motorcycle enthusiasts of all ages come together to share stories and memorabilia, display vintage dirt-track bikes and antique motorcycles, honor fellow riders, and enjoy the company of those who share a common passion.
The 26th annual Old-Timer Motorcycle banquet was held on October 10 at the Holiday Inn in Wilsonville, Oregon. There were more than 40 beautiful bikes for everyone to see! The turnout was successful, and the 185 guests included Mike Konle, Skip Van Leeuwen (below, left, with Dusty Coppage) and Keith Mashburn, to name just a few of the California contingent in attendance.
Mashburn gave everyone a great update on the Trailblazer Motorcycle Club and the new inductees to the AMA Hall of Fame. Those honored by their fellow motorcycle riders included Mat McKee, for his exceptional riding ability and the promising career that was cut short; and Jerry Dobbins, whose family was the first Kawasaki importer for the USA and sponsored countless riders throughout years of dirt-track racing.
A special guest appearance by longtime motorcycle rider and enthusiast Cookie Crum was a highlight of the evening. She shared the story of her career in motorcycling on the "Wall of Death," as well as many anecdotes of her riding experiences. She was a real hoot!
The evening ended with a raffle, courtesy of Bob Lanphere's Beaverton Honda Yamaha Suzuki Kawasaki and Skip Van Leeuwen.
"I felt that a good time was had by all," said master of ceremonies Bob Lanphere Jr.
The event is open to the public, and all ages are welcome. If you would like to receive a registration form for next year's event, please send your address and phone number to motorcycleoldtimer@gmail.com. You can also find us on the web at http://motorcycleoldtimer.blogspot.com/.
