Zemanovic Tops Cambridge Tourist Trophy

CAMBRIDGE, MN2010 0711 Norsemen MC Zack Zemanovic 85 vs Cole Anderson 11

Second-generation District 23 flat-tracker Zachary Zemanovic (85, above) scored the win in the highly competitive 450 A class during the second round of the double-district dirt-track racing weekend hosted by On Track Promotions. The Norsemen Motorcycle Club provided the venue, and 160 entrants from Minnesota's District 23 and Wisconsin's District 16 supplied the excitement.

As the 450 A main event got under way, holeshot technician Tony Hauer from D23 bolted to the front of the pack during the early running, but Zemanovic stole the lead halfway through the first lap of the five-turn tourist-trophy-type track layout. The Z-man then put his head down and pulled away to score a convincing win, ahead of a talent-laden field. D23's Wayne Lindberg from Hastings, Minnesota, also slipped by Hauer but never posed a threat to Zemanovic. D16's Dave Schultz, Geoff Thistle and Logan Demaa rounded out the top six finishing positions.

Zemanovic looked poised to pick up his second win of the day while leading the Open A main for the first two laps until D23 teen sensation Cole Anderson (11, top photo) grabbed the lead away from him in turn one. The twosome then remained close as they pulled away from the rest of the 10-rider pack to finish one and two. Converted D23 motocrosser and ice-racing superstar Erick Bostrom and D23's Dustin Paul and Rick Wascheck rounded out the top five positions.2010 0711 Norsemen MC Alexia Hoffman 38

Another teen sensation won the 250 A main. District 16's Alexia Hoffman (38, above) came all the way from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, to show the guys the fast way around the track. D23's Elliot Darsow, Ryan Einerwold and Riley Rasmusson gave chase to the three-time Atwater, Wisconsin, track champion.

"I also ride the Open A class just to get more riding time on my 250," explained the 17-year-old Hoffman, who by the way carries a 4.1 grade average at Wayland Academy. "We [she and her parents] also came here this week to look at colleges; I'm hoping to get into the University of Minnesota."

Twin Lakes, Wisconsin's Terry Vestal kept District 16 high on the leaderboard by topping the Over 30 and Over 40 classes while displaying some impressively smooth riding ability. Waupun, Wisconsin's Aaron Jahnke also did D16 proud by winning the 50cc Shaft and the XR50 classes.2010 0711 Norsemen MC Davey Durelle 58K

The winner of both Pro classes was Elizabeth, Colorado's Davey Durelle (58K, above) - formerly of District 23. The General Engineering/EME/Donahue H-D/Arai/Haber Vision-sponsored Durelle scored uncontested wins in both the 450 Semi-Pro and Open Semi-Pro classes. National numbers Josh Koch and Brock Schwarzenbacher were the only riders able to keep Durelle in sight.

"I love coming to this track; I've been racing here since I was on a minibike," said the former GNC National number 58 and multiple-time 750cc Pro-class winner of the Pikes Peak Hillclimb. "We rode the 250 class at Pikes Peak this year, for a change. We beat the record by 13 seconds."
