Florida Supermoto Series
Round 5: Jennings GP

Jennings GP Goes Dirt!

JENNINGS, FL

Larry Wolfe, president of the Florida Supermoto Series, has been working closely with the staff at the road-race course to put together the best dirt section in the Southeast. The course uses two separate sections of dirt to break up the ultrafast road course, making this track a favorite among the Supermoto regulars. The weather was optimum for a August weekend in Florida.

The day started out with a bang! The 450 heat race battle was epic, with Frank Potucek taking the win. Chad Turner took second place from local up-and-comer David McLaughlin. Logan Van Way (younger brother of Pro Supermoto Lites racer Dillon Van Way) took second in the 450 main.Neil Stimpson 231 at Jennings GP 2009 0829

The Beginner class had a record attendance of 21 racers, making it the largest class of the day. Newcomer Neil Stimpson (231, at left, behind Lyles Sanders, 150, and John Cohorn, 411) took the hard-won battle in the main to win by a bikelength over Drew Daly.

The final round will be held at Middle Georgia Karting Track in Dublin, Georgia, on Sunday, September 27, with practice on Saturday. For more info, go to www.flsupermoto.com.
