Round 3: Lake Elsinore MX Park

Surratt Dominates Elsinore SX

LAKE ELSINORE, CA

The third round of the Amateur Supercross Series hit California's Lake Elsinore Motocross Park with a bang. After the "storm of the century" (or, at least, the "century" so far) pounded Southern California a couple before, Lake Elsinore had to close down the track and reschedule the third round, since the track was under water. Putting in some long hours, the track crew prepped the supercross track to pristine conditions. However, there was a new storm that had to be dealt with on Saturday: Ryan Surratt. The third round was the same as all the rest for young Surratt, as he dominated every class he entered. He proved that he was in it to win it, and to say the least, the others didn't have a chance.2010 0130 Lake Elsinore MX start

Tension was high as the riders lined up on the gate for the first moto of the Supermini class, as riders such as Surratt, Rookie White and Desmond Spears had proved to be on top of their game during practice. With the 30-second board turned sideways, all eyes were on the gate as the riders waited for it to drop. With better timing than everyone else, Ryan Surratt (51, above) grabbed the holeshot, ahead of Ty Smith (44), Jordan Dibella (6), C.J. Chaparro (741), Austin Harney (381), Rookie White (663), Ty Mercer (124, behind Chaparra) and Desmond Spears and Cody Gutierrez (both behind Surratt). Surratt slowly started to pull away. Coming off a recent injury, Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider White got a bad start, but he quickly maneuvered around the pack and eventually edged his way into fourth. With too much pressure to get up front, White threw away the race as he crashed, skipping across three small tabletops in the back section of the track. Looking hurt, White got back on his bike and pulled off the track. Finally, it was Surratt who came over the finish-line double first, with about a four-second lead on Spears.2010 0130 Lake Elsinore MX Ryan Surratt 51

Coming off a solid win in the first moto, Ryan Surratt (51, left) was confident, and highly motivated to keep his streak going for moto two. About as predictable as Mike Alessi, Surratt again grabbed the holeshot over the points-hungry Spears. As the two went into the first corner, Spears tried to dive on the inside and run Surratt high in the tight 180-degree right-hander. However, Surratt quickly shut down Spears' desperate attempt to take over the lead. Surratt was on it in the second moto, and Spears proved to be no match him, as he eventually settled into second.

The third round of the series had tons of raffles going on during the break, with items such as hats, Lucas Oil gift packs, and even a Honda 50 up for grabs. Who knows what's going to be given away at the fourth round? If you're looking for some great racing action, check out that fourth round at Lake Elsinore Motocross Park.
