INDUSTRY HILLS, CA
Charlie "The Edge" Venegas capped off a perfect night by winning the main event for the second week in a row at Industry Speedway in California.
Venegas started in gate one and used it to his advantage to take the lead entering turn one. "Flyin' Mike" Faria gave chase, while "Fast Eddie" Castro made a bold move to get into third. Venegas was smooth as silk on the inside line and rode mistake-free from start to finish and was first to the checkered flag. Faria finished second, Castro was third, Tyson Burmeister finished fourth, and Buck Blair was fifth.
Venegas kicked off the heats by beating Castro. Blair defeated Tyson Talkington in the second heat. Faria ended round one with a win over Neil Facchini.
Round two began with Venegas garnering his second straight win. Burmeister beat Blair in the next heat. Faria closed the second round by fighting off a valiant challenge from Michael Raines for his second straight win.
Shawn "Mad Dog" McConnell overcame his early-evening struggles to win the opening race of the final round. Venegas remained perfect by beating Burmeister. Blair closed out the heats by defeating Faria.
Faria got the best start in the first semi, but Blair masterfully used the outside and found enough traction on the second lap to surge into the lead and took the victory. Faria's second-place finish allowed him to join Blair in the main.
Venegas and Burmeister finished one-two in the second semi to transfer to the main.
Castro won the last-chance qualifier to complete the five-rider main-event field.
Eloy Medellin put together four smooth laps and won the Second Division main event. Brandon Leedy was second, Tim McGrath finished third, Bruce Marteney was fourth, Gene Stone finished fifth, and Rod Requejo was sixth.
Kip McClain and Mike Salyer battled side by side for the first lap of the Third Division main event before McClain took the lead. Salyer kept the pressure on the leader, and his effort paid off when he went by McClain on the third lap. Salyer never looked back from there and held on for the win. McClain was second, Kevin Johnson finished third, Tony De Almeida was fourth, DeWayne Stark finished fifth, and Rick Howard was sixth.
Sebastian Palmese defeated Dean Cameron and Katie Cameron to win the Pee Wee Second Division main event.
Hunter Cameron led all four laps en route to the victory in the Pee Wee First Division main event. Coy Cameron finished second, Dominic Laney was third, and Alyssa Smith finished fourth.
Dan Jones & Brandi McElroy led from start to finish and captured the Sidecar main-event victory. Gerard Jackson & Dave German were second, and Joe Jones & Jimmy Olsen finished third.
